Barcelona star Raphinha has revealed that he was left feeling ‘disrespected’ by a member of the club’s fanbase during the summer.
This came after the individual in question took to social media, to unveil a photo of Raphinha’s no.11 jersey, featuring the name of Athletic Club star Nico Williams.
As much came amid heavy speculation in the media that the Brazilian was set to be replaced in Hansi Flick’s squad by fellow wide-man Nico.
In the end, no such changing of places was forthcoming, with Raphinha having since more than proven his worth courtesy of what has been an electric start to the campaign on the part of the former Leeds United man.
Speaking to the media in a press conference on Tuesday, Raphinha, in turn, was asked for his take on the aforementioned fan’s summer antics.
And the 27-year-old made use of the opportunity to hit back, revealing his take that the gesture was one made ‘in very bad taste’:
“Seeing my no.11 shirt with Nico Williams’ name on social media was very disrespectful. It was a joke in very bad taste. We have to respect the players who are here.”
