Barcelona star ‘disgusted’ with treatment from club

A long-time member of the first-team setup at La Liga giants Barcelona has been left disillusioned with the recent treatment afforded to him on the part on the club.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Sergi Roberto as the player in question.

Roberto, until very recently, looked all set to put pen to paper on a new one-year contract extension with Barcelona.

As much came after the 32-year-old and his entourage were informed that the departure of boss Xavi would not have a direct impact on plans for his renewal.

As the days pass, and we move within a month of Roberto’s current deal expiring, however, little has been forthcoming in terms of updates on an agreement between the parties.

This comes with Barcelona having pumped the brakes on the operation.

Amid their ongoing efforts to get the club’s financial situation back under control, Deco and co. have informed the club’s career-long star that his continuation is no longer considered a priority.

As per the aforementioned MD:

‘The midfielder is as disappointed as he is disgusted with the radical turn his situation has taken, especially because of how everything has happened.’

Roberto’s first-choice remains staying put in Catalunya, with the Spaniard therefore ready to wait it out for further developments.

Outside interest in his signature, though, is beginning to mount, with clubs from all of Serie A, the Saudi Pro League and MLS keeping a close eye on the situation.
