Barcelona star Jules Koundé could see his talents utilised in a central role in Catalunya’s capital this coming season. This comes owing to several factors.
First, the future of Ronald Araújo. Despite the speculation surrounding his name having died down over recent months, stopper Araújo could yet be sold this summer, in the face of an offer deemed sufficient.
In the case of as much, Hansi Flick would then turn to Koundé as one of the first options to replace the Uruguayan at the heart of his defence.
Also a significant factor is the ongoing excellence being showcased by Eric García.
Eric was of course one of the most reliable performers in Barcelona’s squad last season, filling several roles at an exceptional level.
The World Cup winner is in turn viewed as one of the first names on the team sheet by the coaching staff at the Spotify Camp Nou. In the case of Eric taking over at right-back full-time for the Blaugrana moving forward, Koundé could therefore be forced to battle for minutes at centre-back.
