Barcelona star Jules Koundé issued a brutally honest response, after being drawn on his lack of game time across the early weeks of the new campaign.
Stopper Koundé finds himself in something of a difficult situation in Catalunya’s capital at present. After a challenging term from an individual standpoint in 2025/26, the Frenchman has seemingly lost the trust of Barca boss Hansi Flick.
Considered a backup option behind Eric García on the right, Koundé has been afforded a starting berth in just one of the Blaugrana’s seven La Liga fixtures to date.
Such woes have even seen it speculated that the former Sevilla man could be on the move in January, amid interest in his signature from across the continent.
In no two minds when it comes to who exactly is to blame for his fall off at the Camp Nou, though, is Koundé himself. Drawn on his recent struggles at club level during an exchange with the media on Sunday, the 27-year-old did not hesitate in admitting:
“Limited playing time at Barça? It’s Flick’s decision and a consequence of my last season in which I underperformed.”
