Barcelona star Lamine Yamal beat out stiff competition to scoop the official Man of the Match award for his latest performance in Spanish colours.
This comes fresh off La Roja keeping alive their World Cup campaign in style.
Luis de la Fuente’s troops were back in action a short time ago, locking horns with Austria in a Round-of-32 clash.
When all was said and done, Spain emerged on the right side of a 3-0 result, courtesy of a Mikel Oyarzabal brace, either side of a header from Pedro Porro.
A whole host of the European champions’ star performers shone across the 90 minutes in Los Angeles, from frontman Oyarzabal to Marc Cucurella (two assists) and defensive stalwart Pau Cubarsí.
As alluded to above, though, it was ultimately Lamine who was named the ‘MVP’ of the evening.
From his berth on the right flank, the 18-year-old racked up five successful dribbles, 22 carries, a 90% passing accuracy and came within an inch of finding the net.
This culminated in a maiden Man of the Match prize for Lamine at the World Cup, no doubt the first of many.
