It’s felt like a lifetime since Uruguayan defender Ronald Araújo was injured while representing his country at the Copa America during the summer but finally, the light at the end of the tunnel is visible.
Through images shared on the Catalan club’s social media channels, Araújo was spotted in training on Sunday morning for the first time since his injury in the summer.
The defender’s last action in a Barcelona shirt was a 30-minute cameo against Rayo Vallecano back in May, during which he bagged an assist in a 3-0 win.
Barcelona fans will be keen on seeing any defensive reinforcements after their frailties have been on show in that position in recent weeks as teams have started to figure out how to get around their high line.
The defensive meltdown which saw the club concede two goals on two minutes against Celta Vigo last night will be fresh on fan’s minds as they think about the current state of the club’s defence.
Hopefully, Araújo will be back on the pitch sooner rather than later, and Hansi Flick will have another option in defence when it comes to picking his squad each matchday.
