Barcelona set to welcome 3 key players back in time for Champions League quarter-finals

An insight into the wellbeing of sidelined Barcelona pair Pedri and Frenkie de Jong has come to the fore this afternoon.

And the news will no doubt bring a collective smile to the faces of Barcelona supporters the world over.

This comes amid the revelation that, should all go according to plan, Blaugrana boss Xavi is expected to have both at his disposal for the club’s upcoming Champions League quarter-final tie.

Barca, of course, are fresh off booking their spot in the last eight of European football’s elite club competition, courtesy of a 3-1 downing of Napoli on Tuesday night.

On Friday, the Catalans will, in turn, discover who awaits them in a high-profile quarter-final tie.

And, if the latest word stemming from the media on Thursday is anything to go by, the efforts of Xavi’s troops to march on to what would come as a shock semi-final berth look set to be aided by the returns of two headline members of the club’s midfield ranks.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, Frenkie de Jong is enjoying ‘a good recovery’ from the ankle injury he suffered at the beginning of the month.

The Dutchman, as a result, should be available to feature from the off in the first leg of the Champions League’s quarter-finals, set to play out between April 9th and 10th.

Midfield partner in crime Pedri, meanwhile, is considered more of a doubt for the tie’s opener, amid his ongoing efforts to recover from a thigh issue.

MD suggest that his participation has not been ruled out as of yet, though the 2nd leg – on the 16th or 17th of April – looks a more realistic comeback date as things stand.

And the good news does not end there, with Ferran Torres, sidelined since late January with a hamstring problem, set for an imminent return to matchday duties, too.
