Barcelona set to reduce scouting department by 50%

Barcelona are set to reduce their scouting department at the football club by 50% as part of a staff restructuring plan, according to ESPN.

The scouting department currently employs approximately 40 people and the majority are heading into the final month of their contracts. Only 15 to 20 are expected to be kept in their roles at the Catalan club.

Speaking on Ser Cataluyna, a club spokesman said the overhaul “has been planned for a while and has nothing to do with the coronavirus pandemic, but the move comes as cutbacks are being made to deal with the health crisis.
