England international Keira Walsh is set to join Barcelona. The Catalan club and Manchester City have reached an agreement for the midfielder, according to journalist Maria Tikas of Catalan outlet Sport.
The deal will be worth a reported €400,000, the biggest fee in the history of women’s football.
Walsh, who is still with the English national team after playing the last two qualifying matches for the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand next summer, will travel to Barcelona in the next few days to sign her new contract with club president Joan Laporta before officially joining Barça.
Walsh, 25, was one of the best players at this summer’s European Championship. She was instrumental in the final in England’s victory over Germany at Wembley and is now set to be an important player for Barcelona over the coming years.
Heading into the final year of her contract at City, Walsh was keen on the move to Catalonia.
