Barcelona ‘seriously considering’ major signing in 2025

The powers that be at La Liga giants are giving increasing consideration to sanctioning a high-profile move to sign a new goalkeeper next summer.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Friday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

The situation between the posts has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the last couple of weeks.

This comes after Barcelona no.1 Marc-André ter Stegen suffered a serious knee injury, which is expected to keep him out for the remainder of the campaign.

Even prior to as much, however, Ter Stegen’s performances had long begun to draw criticism on the part of the Blaugrana faithful, adamant that Hansi Flick’s squad is in need of a new, top-class shot-stopper.

And, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then such concerns over the German international’s form appear to have made their way into the Camp Nou boardroom, too.

As per a report from Diario Sport:

‘Barça are seriously considering signing a top-level goalkeeper in the summer transfer window. The Blaugrana club hopes Ter Stegen will recover but are clear that the time has come to find a medium-long term replacement for the German.’

A list of potential goalkeeper targets for the 2024/25 campaign, as a result, is already being drawn up by Deco and his team.
