Barcelona ‘serious’ about summer reunion with RB Leipzig star

The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona are readying an all-out assault for the signature of RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Friday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

The name of Spanish international Olmo, of course, returned to the forefront of the headlines in Barcelona earlier this week.

As much came after confirmation was forthcoming that the gifted attacker’s representatives were spotted in a sit-down meeting with Deco and a team of Blaugrana directors.

And now, further insight into the situation has been forthcoming.

As per the aforementioned MD, unlike in summers gone by, this time round, Barcelona are ‘serious’ about striking a deal for Olmo.

The 25-year-old is the exact profile of attacker the Catalans are understood to have set their sights on with a view to next season – a player who can chiefly operate on the left, but is also capable of lining out in a number of other roles in the frontline and midfield alike.

Deco and co. therefore communicated their intention to push forward with a move for Olmo in the meeting with his entourage during the week.

Significantly, it is also noted that the signals were positive from the camp of the attacker, with Olmo eager to link back up with the club where he spent seven years developing as a youngster.

The player’s €60 million release clause represents something of a stumbling block, but Barca are hopeful that Olmo’s good relations with the Leipzig brass could prove the key in working out favourable payment terms.
