A breakthrough member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is inching ever closer to extending his terms with the club.
The player in question? Pau Cubarsí.
Youngster Cubarsí has of course exploded onto the scene in Catalunya across the year to date.
After first being afforded a chance to impress by boss Xavi amid a personnel crisis at the heart of Barcelona’s backline, La Masia’s latest sensation has since gone on to establish himself as a near-undisputed first-team starter.
Just this week, Cubarsí was responsible for a near-flawless display at the back, after being made use of from the off in the Blaugrana’s Champions League quarter-final first-leg showdown with Paris Saint-Germain.
Still just 17, and with top-class performances against the likes of Victor Osimhen and Kylian Mbappé under his belt, it should in turn come as little surprise to hear of the brass at Barcelona working hard to tie Cubarsí down to a new contract.
And, if the latest word stemming from the media on Friday is anything to go by, fresh terms now appear closer than ever to being agreed upon between the parties.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:
‘The two parties continue negotiating with the intention of reaching an agreement soon.’
In turn, it is suggested that a definitive accord regarding Cubarsí’s renewal could be put in place before the close of the campaign.
