La Liga giants Barcelona sent scouts to keep an eye on River Plate sensation Franco Mastantuono during a pair of recent fixtures.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Monday provided an insight into the situation.
The name of midfielder Mastantuono took its place front and centre in the media chatter across Spain at various points earlier this year.
This came as both Barcelona and Real Madrid, in particular the latter, were credited with a serious interest in the signature of the 17-year-old.
Mastantuono, for his part, is widely regarded as one of the standout talents in all of South American football, considered a potential star in the making in his home country of Argentina.
And, as alluded to above, continuing to keep a close eye on his progress at present are the powers that be at Barcelona.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:
‘At the end of October and beginning of November 2024, the Blaugrana club sent a scout to Argentina to watch some River Plate matches live at their stadium.’
This comes with a view to a potential incoming offer for Mastantuono’s signature.
