Barcelona send request to RFEF over Ferran Torres

The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona have forwarded a request to the Spanish Football Federation, regarding frontman Ferran Torres.

As much comes ahead of La Roja’s impending return to action.

Luis de la Fuente’s troops are scheduled to play out a pair of high-profile friendlies over the coming fortnight, first against Colombia, and then Brazil.

The country’s squad for the two fixtures, in turn, will be announced this coming Friday.

And Barcelona, it would appear, are desperate for a key member of their own attacking ranks not to be included.

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugrana brass have made direct contact with the RFEF, to ask that Ferran Torres be excluded from the Spanish squad.

Luis de la Fuente is a huge fan of the talents possessed by Torres, having depended heavily upon the former Manchester City man across his stint in the dugout with La Roja.

With Torres in the final stages of recovery from a recent hamstring injury, however, Barcelona feel that the time is not right for him to depart for international duty.

In fact, on Friday, the day of Spain’s latest panel of players being announced, the 24-year-old is expected to take to the training pitch with the rest of Xavi’s squad for the first time since January.
