Barcelona ‘say goodbye’ to Tottenham market opportunity

The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona have bid farewell to what was considered by the club to be a real opportunity on the transfer market.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Son Heung-min as the opportunity in question.

Amid their ongoing search for reinforcements on the left flank, Son, it is understood, had been earmarked by the Barcelona brass as one potential option.

This came ahead of the expiration of the South Korean’s contract terms with the aforementioned Tottenham this coming summer.

The Blaugrana, in turn, explored the parameters of a potential deal.

But their hopes of striking a free agent agreement – the preference – were late this week dealt a fatal blow.

This comes amid confirmation that Son and Spurs have agreed to activate a one-year extension option in the attacker’s contract in north London.

Set to turn 34 next summer, any potential move to Spain for Son is in turn considered as all but dead in the water.
