The brass at La Liga champions Barcelona have moved to shut down speculation linking them with a move for Sporting CP star Gonçalo Inácio. This comes amid a fresh round of reports tipping the two parties with a joining of forces for the season ahead.
Barcelona are widely understood to be scouring the market for potential late-window reinforcements at the back. Following the departure of Ronald Araújo, the Blaugrana have been left looking somewhat short on options at the heart of defence.
A whole host of stoppers from across the continent, in turn, have been touted as potential additions to Hansi Flick’s squad.
Over the last 24 hours, one such name to have reemerged in force is that of the aforementioned Gonçalo Inácio, rumoured to be held in high regard in Catalunya’s capital.
But as alluded to above, on Sunday, Barca themselves have moved to rebuff their mounting links with the Portuguese international. As per a report from market insider Fabrizio Romano:
‘Nothing agreed, advanced or close for Gonçalo Inacio to Barcelona despite reports this morning. Club sources playing down links with the defender.’
