Barcelona respond to €9 million RC Lens bid for Mika Faye

La Liga giants Barcelona have this evening received a significant offer for one of the club’s most highly-regarded young talents.

The player in question? Mikayil Faye.

As per a report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano:

‘RC Lens have submitted [a] formal bid to Barcelona for talented 2004 born defender Mikayil Faye.’

The proposal in question is understood to have come in the form of an initial loan, featuring an obligation to buy for a fee in the region of €8/9 million.

This, of course, marks a significant sum for a player yet to be afforded his senior debut in Catalunya.

And yet, despite the long-publicised financial concerns at Barcelona, Romano points towards Lens’ move as being altogether unlikely to bear fruit.

This comes with Faye widely considered to be a star in the making by all associated with the Spanish club.

The 19-year-old, who linked up with the Blaugrana last summer from Croatian outfit NK Kustošija, has racked up 17 appearances for Barcelona B across the season to date.

*Update* – Confirmation has since arrived that Lens’ proposal has indeed been rejected.
