Spanish football’s two biggest clubs are both expressing a keen interest in the signing of Benfica talent Álvaro Carreras.
That’s according to A Bola, who have on Friday provided an insight into the developing situation.
Carreras, for his part, is a 21-year-old defender, who has long been making waves in the Portuguese game.
The left-back has been hailed in particular for his offensive prowess, with Carreras boasting bags of pace with finished product to match.
Such talents have piqued the attentions of a number of Europe’s leading clubs, with Manchester United, who sold the youngster to Benfica just this summer, keeping a close eye on developments surrounding his future.
As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from Portugal is anything to go by, then La Liga is beginning to look like an increasingly likely landing spot for Carreras, if he does depart Lisbon.
As per a report from A Bola:
‘Barcelona are keeping an eye on Carreras and the Champions League match in January could be decisive. Real Madrid are also keeping an eye on him and the Spaniards seem to have the advantage despite Manchester United’s clause.’
