Barcelona readying cash-plus-player bid for Girona captain Aleix García

The powers that be at Barcelona have identified a key member of the midfield setup at high-flying Girona as a priority target for the January transfer target, according to reports.

The player in question? Aleix García.

Midfielder García has proven one of the standout performers of the campaign to date in Spain’s top flight.

The 26-year-old has featured from the off in all 18 of Girona’s La Liga outings, controlling proceedings in stellar fashion from his berth at the base of midfield.

Not only that, but he has chipped in in the attacking third, too, to the tune of three goals and four assists.

With Girona continuing to defy the odds in mounting a shock early-season challenge for the title, it has in turn come as little surprise to hear of García’s performances beginning to pique attentions across the Spanish football landscape.

One club tipped as a potential landing spot have come in the form of Barcelona, with Xavi and co. known to be on the lookout for fresh blood in the middle of the park.

And, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then the Blaugrana could well soon step up their pursuit.

As per a report from Jijantes, García has emerged as a ‘priority’ target at the Camp Nou this January.

The Catalans, in turn, are said to be preparing a cash-plus-player offer, in the hope of landing the Spaniard with a view to the 2nd half of the campaign.
