Barcelona reach agreement in principle with Chelsea for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

As broken by Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona have reached a deal over the transfer of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

According to the agreement, Chelsea will pay €14m to secure the services of the Gabonese international, with Marcos Alonso moving in the other direction.

Aubameyang is expected to fly to London this afternoon to complete his medical and sign his contract before the transfer window closes this evening.

The 33-year-old has been linked with a move to Chelsea throughout August. However, Barça were not willing to budge from their €30m asking price. With the transfer window closing soon and Barcelona needing to free up the budget necessary to make new signings, Chelsea were successfully able to force the Catalan side’s hand to reduce their price tag.

Earlier this week Joan Laporta told Alonso that he will do everything within his means to sign him and it appears as though the Barcelona president is sticking to his words.
