Barcelona president Laporta names 13 clubs – including Milan & Inter – who have agreed to Super League

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has this evening dropped something of a bombshell on the European football landscape.

This comes amid confirmation that a whole host of leading clubs from across the continent have already given their word to participating in the long-touted ‘European Super League’.

It is of course common knowledge that Spanish football’s two leading clubs – Barcelona and Real Madrid – are behind a fresh push to mount a breakaway from UEFA, and European club football as we know it.

After seeing initial plans collapse at the last back in 2021, the La Liga heavyweights are rallying the troops, in a bid to at long last push the ESL project over the line.

To this point, when pressed on the subject in the media, almost all clubs have rejected the prospect of involvement in the divisive plans.

As alluded to above, though, behind the scenes, an altogether different tune is evidently being sung.

This comes amid the revelation on the part of the aforementioned Joan Laporta that no fewer than 13 clubs from outside Spain ‘have already agreed to the Super League’.

Speaking in a lengthy press conference this afternoon, the Barca chief announced that:

“Inter, Milan, Napoli, Roma, Olympique Marseille, Benfica, Porto, Sporting, Ajax, Feyenoord, PSV, Anderlecht, Club Brugge and all Spanish clubs except Atlético Madrid,” have given their respective backing to the latest ESL push.
