Barcelona pair remain absent from training before PSG

Two headline members of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona were absent from group training once more this afternoon.

After a day of rest on Tuesday, Barcelona’s stars reconvened at the club’s training ground early this morning.

As much comes with a view to next week’s crunch Champions League quarter-final meeting with Paris Saint-Germain.

After marking their return post-international break by putting Las Palmas to the sword, the scheduling of the Copa del Rey finale on Saturday night means that the Blaugrana will not be in action this weekend.

Instead, full focus has already shifted towards next Wednesday’s PSG showdown, at the Parc des Princes.

As alluded to above, though, whilst Xavi and his coaching staff had almost a full complement of players to choose from in training on Tuesday, two altogether notable absentees were too noted.

The pair in question? Pedri, and Frenkie de Jong.

Both Pedri and De Jong have of course been sidelined since early last month, owing to respective muscular injuries.

The hope was that, just a week out from Barca’s trip to Paris, at least the latter would have linked back up with the group in full training by now.

As confirmed by Helena Condis of COPE, though, this has not proven the case, meaning midfield duo Pedri and De Jong, as things stand, remain in doubt to feature against PSG.
