Barcelona pair in individual training before Las Palmas clash

Two headline members of the first-team setup at La Liga giants Barcelona are training separately from the rest of the club’s squad, ahead of their return to action this weekend.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Wednesday provided the latest on developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

A threadbare Barca squad under the watch of Xavi are of course currently in the process of ramping up preparations for the club’s post-international break return, when they are set to play host to Las Palmas on Saturday night.

With the vast majority of those to have been called up for duty with their respective countries yet to return, seven members of the Blaugrana’s senior ranks were today joined by a host of youth players in training, in an effort to make up the numbers.

The players to have been spotted in full training came in the form of:

Vitor Roque, Iñigo Martínez, Oriol Romeu, Marcos Alonso, Sergi Roberto, Iñaki Peña and Ferran Torres.

And yet, whilst two further members of Barca’s first-team squad were in attendance at the club’s training complex on Wednesday, they did not participate alongside the rest of the group.

This comes amid confirmation that both Ronald Araújo and Andreas Christensen were put through individualised sessions.

Defensive stalwart Araújo, after being afforded an early departure from international duty, is continuing to deal with some minor discomfort in his thigh.

And newly-reinvented midfielder Christensen is yet to fully recover from the Achilles issue which forced him to pull out of the Denmark squad early last week.

It now remains to be seen whether either are given the medical green light to feature against Las Palmas.
