Barcelona open transfer talks with Manchester United

The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona have kicked into gear a fresh round of transfer discussions with their counterparts at Manchester United.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing The Independent, who unsurprisingly point towards the talks in question as surrounding a potential deal for Marcus Rashford.

The name of frontman Rashford has of course proven a prominent one in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital for several weeks now.

This comes after word was forthcoming that Deco and the transfer team at Barcelona had earmarked the Englishman as a leading mid-season transfer target.

To date, little progress towards an actual deal has been made, with the Blaugrana continuing to work to free up space on their wage bill.

As alluded to above, though, this week, fresh negotiations have been opened, with a view to an agreement being struck before the upcoming winter transfer deadline.

As per MD:

‘Manchester United are reportedly back in talks with FC Barcelona over a loan deal for Marcus Rashford.’

It is also noted that Rashford himself is keen on a Camp Nou switch, whilst Man United consider Barcelona the only viable candidate for his signature.
