Barcelona open talks over key contract renewal

The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona have early this week moved to tie a leading member of the club’s attacking ranks down for the long term. This comes amid confirmation of negotiations being held with Raphinha over the terms of a new contract.

Frontman Raphinha is for his part of course fresh off nothing short of a remarkable opening to the new campaign.

Entrusted with both the captain’s armband and a new role as Hansi Flick’s central striker, the Brazilian has responded with a string of explosive performances. All told, in six appearances between La Liga and the Champions League, Raphinha has directly contributed to a staggering 11 goals.

And if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media is anything to go by, then the significance of these exploits certainly does not appear to have gone unrecognised on the part of the Camp Nou board…

As per a report from Diario Sport:

‘Deco held an extensive meeting with Raphinha at a restaurant in Castelldefels this afternoon to advance in the renewal of the Brazilian footballer, whose contract ends in 2028. An informal but important meeting within conversations that are based on total harmony between the parties and the player’s willingness to continue wearing the Barça shirt.’
