Barcelona open contract extension talks with midfield starlet

La Liga giants Barcelona have opened discussions with a member of the club’s youth ranks, over the terms of a new long-term contract with the club.

The player in question? Marc Casadó.

20-year-old midfielder Casadó’s is a name which will be familiar to regular viewers of Barcelona.

This comes with the Spaniard having been included in Xavi’s first-team setup on a whole host of occasions over the course of the last two seasons.

An integral figure in Rafa Márquez’s Barca Atlètic, though, Casadó, to date, has managed just a solitary La Liga appearance.

Ahead of the expiration of his contract in the summer, it had in turn been suggested in the media that the youngster could be in line to move on with a view to next season.

If the latest update to have come to the fore on Thursday is anything to go by, however, then as much now looks altogether unlikely.

As per a report from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano:

‘Barcelona have opened talks with talented midfielder Marc Casadó over a new long-term deal.’

The terms of the deal in question would see Casadó locked down through the summer of 2027, with it added that the defensive-minded midfielder is considered ‘an important talent’ for the present and future alike.
