Barcelona on verge of Jan Virgili signing

La Liga giants Barcelona are close to reinforcing the club’s youth ranks by way of a highly-regarded attacking starlet.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Jan Virgili as the player in question.

Virgili, for his part, is an 18-year-old frontman, capable of lining out in a variety of positions across the attacking line.

This past season, he operated chiefly on the wing, where the Spanish sensation helped himself to 18 goals with the Nàstic Youth A team.

Described as ‘a great footballer who, although he can play as a ‘9’, is a very fast winger and is great in one-on-one situations,’ Virgili’s recent exploits are understood to have piqued the attentions of a whole host of clubs across the Spanish football landscape.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word doing the rounds on Thursday is anything to go by, it is Barcelona who are on the verge of closing a deal for his signature.

As per Sport:

‘Jan Virgili has exploded this season with Nàstic and has attracted the attention of big clubs, but the one that has moved the best is Barça, which is about to finalize his incorporation.’

Virgili, initially, is expected to link up with Barcelona’s Juvenil A side, but, depending on his progression, a step up to Rafa Márquez’s Barca Atlètic is not out of the question.
