Spanish giants Barcelona look all set to add to their burgeoning youth ranks, by way of am imminent summer arrival.
That’s according to Diario AS, who have provided a fresh insight into developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.
The Blaugrana, it is understood, have established themselves as the clear frontrunners in the race for Real Valladolid sensation Álvaro Gómez.
Gómez, for his part, is naturally a central defender, but has enjoyed great success after being shifted to a right-back role across the season to date.
Playing a year above his age group, the performances of the 2009-born starlet have long begun to pique the attentions of some of Spanish football’s biggest clubs.
And one such outfit are now seemingly closing on a deal for Gómez’s services.
As per the aforementioned AS, an agreement to take the Valladolid man to Barcelona in the summer is ‘very advanced’.
An official announcement, in turn, could well be forthcoming over the weeks ahead, amid high hopes that Gómez will one day go on to establish himself in the first-team fold at Camp Nou.
