The shortlist of nominees for the Player of the Round award in the Nations League have been unveiled online. And Spanish champions Barcelona feature front and centre when it comes to representation.
Headlining the four-man shortlist is Blaugrana sensation Lamine Yamal, fresh off a standout performance in Spain’s 3-2 downing of England.
Also in the running, meanwhile, is a player to have departed Hansi Flick’s squad on loan over the summer. After producing a number of fine stops over the course of the 90 minutes against the Netherlands, Germany’s Marc-André ter Stegen has been rewarded with a spot alongside Lamine.
Elsewhere, Real Madrid icon Luka Modrić, now of AC Milan, is nominated after finding the net at 41 years old in Croatia’s victory over Czechia.
And rounding out the list of candidates is Manchester City frontman Erling Haaland, who found the net twice in a hard-fought triumph for Norway over Denmark.
