Barcelona offered chance to sign cut-price midfielder

The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona have been offered up the signature of a leading member of the midfield ranks at AS Roma.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Leandro Paredes as the player in question.

It is of course common knowledge across the football landscape that the Barcelona brass have identified the base of the club’s midfield as their priority area of reinforcement for next season.

In turn, a whole host of agents and clubs from across the continent are understood to have made contact with Deco and his team.

And the latest, according to Sport, were the entourage of the aforementioned Paredes.

Argentine international Paredes is for his part fresh off an impressive close to the campaign back in Serie A, with AS Roma.

Aware of Barcelona’s prior interest in his services, as well as the delicate financial situation at the Camp Nou at present, the 30-year-old’s representatives have therefore touched base with the Blaugrana, regarding a potential summer deal.

Paredes’ terms with Roma are due to expire in 12 months’ time, meaning he would likely be available for a cut-price fee.

In their response, however, Barca made clear that their focus is currently on other midfield profiles.
