Barcelona offer Xavi new deal until 2026

Barcelona have formally offered head coach Xavi Hernández two more years on top of his current contract, according to journalist Luis Rojo.

The 43-year-old took over at the club in November 2021 and his current deal at Camp Nou expires on 30 June 2024.

According to Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo, a meeting took place today between Barcelona and the coach’s representatives.

On 7 March, club president Joan Laporta admitted at an event, in response to questions from Santi Nolla, director of Mundo Deportivo, that he had already told Xavi that he wanted him to extend his stay at the club.

Xavi focused on winning titles

At the time, the head coach reportedly said that he wanted to focus on winning titles this season. At that time Barça were still in the Copa del Rey and were top of La Liga.

If Xavi accepts the offer sent his way, he could potentially be in charge of Barcelona until 2026.

The Blaugrana are currently 13 points clear at the top of the La Liga table after their 0-0 draw with Girona on Monday night and look set to clinch the league title this season.
