Barcelona may have signed “the next Ronaldo”

Barcelona have reached an agreement in principle for Athletico Paranaense wonderkid Vitor Roque, report Mundo Deportivo.

The two clubs have agreed a deal for the sale of the Brazilian to Barcelona for €35m plus another €10m that could be paid by the club in different variables depending on the goals that the 18-year-old achieves when he joins the Catalan champions. His contract at Camp Nou will run until 30 June 2028.

Roque has become one to watch over the last 12 months. The Brazilian forward scored four goals in 10 Brasiliero Série A appearances in 2023. For his country, he made a name for himself in the Brazilian Under-20 squad where he bagged six goals in eight games at the Under-20 CONMEBOL Championship.

Former sporting director of Internacional, Gustavo Grossi, has admitted that Roque has the potential to become one of the best Brazilian players in recent history. And he even compared him to Brazil great Ronaldo Nazario. “He is the only footballer who can truly become the new Ronaldo Nazario,” Grossi said.

“He has everything Ronaldo had: speed, technique, finishing ability and a winning character above average,” he added.
