Barcelona manager latest – Conte & more ruled out, Klopp the dream and Márquez’s chances

A fresh insight into the efforts of the powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona to source a new manager has been provided this afternoon.

The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, who point towards the Barca brass as having a clear idea in mind when it comes to the club’s next head coach.

The individual in question will be a ‘top’ manager boasting plenty of experience of the European game.

Should such a tactician not be sourced, the Blaugrana are ready to turn Rafa Márquez – currently in charge of Barcelona Atlètic – as an in-house solution.

When it comes to those already out of the equation, the likes of Girona headmaster Míchel, and Bologna boss Thiago Motta, are viewed as not yet boasting the requisite experience.

Antonio Conte, meanwhile, will also not be approached, owing to concerns surrounding his conservative brand of football.

Elsewhere, the pairing of Mikel Arteta and Thomas Tuchel have already ruled themselves out of the running for the post.

And so the ‘dream’ appointment remains, as expected, soon-to-be former Liverpool headmaster Jürgen Klopp.

Though Klopp, for his part, intends to take a year out from the game following a near-decade on the bench at Premier League giants Liverpool, Deco and his team nevertheless intend to make an approach for his services over the coming weeks and months.

Finally, fellow German Hansi Flick – who is understood to be learning Spanish in the hopes of being contacted by Barcelona – is under consideration as Xavi’s replacement, too.
