Barcelona make first contact with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta

A fresh insight into the ongoing efforts of La Liga giants Barcelona to source a new head coach for next season has today been provided.

This comes amid claims that the Barca brass have made first contacts over a potential deal with one of the Premier League’s most high-profile names.

As per a report from Relevo, Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta was the recent recipient of a phone call on the part of Blaugrana sporting director Deco.

Though Arteta himself has on several occasions already moved to reiterate his commitment to the Arsenal cause, it is understood that he has not completely closed the door on the prospect of taking up the reins in Catalunya.

And both Deco, and president Joan Laporta, are keen admirers of the managerial talents boasted by the one-time Barca talent.

The operation, on the side of the Spanish giants, is viewed as a complicated one, with Arteta tied down to terms with Arsenal through the summer of 2025.

It is therefore concluded that:

‘If Arteta wanted to leave the London club for Barcelona, he would have to sit down and negotiate with Arsenal and reach an agreement to terminate his contract.’
