The transfer team at La Liga giants Barcelona are expressing a keen interest in the signature of an up-and-coming Brazilian talent.
That’s according to Diario AS, who point towards João Victor de Souza (better known simply as Souza), as the player in question.
Souza, for his part, is an 18-year-old defender, who is currently plying his trade with Brazilian giants Santos.
A technically-gifted left-back who excels on both sides of the ball, the starlet’s attacking gifts in particular have already seen him draw comparisons with Real Madrid legend Marcelo.
And with such talent, comes inevitable European interest in Souza’s signature…
As per a report from AS, both Barcelona and Chelsea are keeping a close eye on the situation of the Brazilian, with a view to a future offer for his services.
The latter in particular have already drawn up a roadmap for Souza’s integration, which would see the defender link up with Strasbourg on loan, before returning to base in west London as a more well-rounded player.
Barcelona, though, are also in the hunt, in the knowledge that, as things stand, Souza’s contract terms with Santos are due to expire in the summer of 2025.
