An update on the future of transfer-linked Atlético Madrid defender Mario Hermoso has been provided on Sunday evening.
As much, of course, comes amid mounting speculation, pointing towards an incoming departure from the Wanda Metropolitano for Hermoso.
The 28-year-old, as things stand, is due to see his terms with Atlético come to a close in the summer.
Remaining an integral member of the squad under the watch of Diego Simeone, the powers that be in Spain’s capital have in turn long been pushing to tie Hermoso down to a new contract.
To this point, however, such endeavours have proven unsuccessful.
As a result, a whole host of clubs from across Spain and Europe alike have been tipped to launch free agent swoops for the Spaniard.
But, on Sunday, links to two such outfits have been firmly shut down.
As much comes amid confirmation on the part of transfer expert Fabrizio Romano that neither Barcelona nor Juventus are working on a move for Hermoso at present.
His future is therefore labelled as ‘open’, with the versatile stopper putting pen to paper on fresh terms with Atlético not yet out of the question.
