Barcelona leaning away from two leading summer targets

The powers that be at Barcelona look increasingly unlikely to sanction moves for two players long tipped as leading targets on the part of the Blaugrana with a view to the summer.

The pair in question? Amadou Onana, and Dani Olmo.

In the case of the former, a prime target to fill the gaping hole at the base of Xavi’s Barca midfield, Onana is considered too expensive.

As per a report from transfer insider Toni Juanmartí of Diario Sport, the Belgian international is primed to depart current club Everton this summer.

However, his destination is highly unlikely to be the Camp Nou, with the Everton brass refusing to budge on their €60 million asking price, a sum which Barcelona are simply unable to meet.

Turning attentions towards RB Leipzig standout Dani Olmo, recent weeks have of course seen the Spanish international hotly tipped to link back up with the Blaugrana, with whom he spent the early years of his career developing.

Deco and co. are on the lookout for reinforcements on the left flank, with Olmo’s technical gifts and versatility making him an understandably tempting option.

However, once again, price is the obstacle.

The 25-year-old recently renewed his contract at the Red Bull Arena, with his release clause having been set at €60 million.

The Leipzig hierarchy are absolutely unwavering in their stance that Olmo will not be sold for a penny less, meaning Barcelona, as per Sport, again look set to be priced out of a move for a key target.
