Barcelona ‘insist’ on Dário Essugo signing

The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona are refusing to relent in their pursuit of an up-and-coming midfield target.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing Estadio Deportivo, who highlight Dário Essugo as the player in question.

Essugo, for his part, has been making waves in Spanish football across the early months of the 2024/25 campaign.

After linking up with Las Palmas on loan from parent club Sporting CP, the all-action midfielder quickly set about establishing himself as an important figure in Diego Martínez’s squad.

All told, to date, Essugo has racked up eight La Liga starts, thoroughly impressing onlookers along the way.

And, as alluded to above, one such club to have had their attentions piqued by the early-season form being displayed by the 19-year-old comes in the form of Barcelona.

As per MD, the Blaugrana tabled an offer for Essugo during the summer, which was knocked back by their counterparts at Sporting.

Since only further convinced of the Portuguese’s potential to develop into a star, though, Deco and co. are continuing to track Essugo, with a view to a follow-up proposal down the line.
