La Liga champions Barcelona have over the last 24 hours been tipped to launch a move for a member of the attacking ranks at Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
The player understood to be in the sights of the Blaugrana with a view to the season ahead? Viktor Gyökeres.
It is of course common knowledge at this point that those in a position of power at the Spotify Camp Nou are on the lookout for reinforcements up top this summer. Having bid farewell to both Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres, Deco and co. have been left with the task of reinforcing Hansi Flick’s options at centre-forward.
To date, Atlético Madrid standout Julián Alvarez has been the player most heavily linked with a Barcelona switch. Unable to find an agreement with their counterparts at the Metropolitano, though, the Catalans have recently been forced to expand their search.
And as alluded to above, over the last couple of days, this search is understood to have led Barca to North London. As per a report from journalist Jose Alvarez of El Chiringuito TV:
‘In the coming hours, movements are expected regarding Gyokeres at Barcelona. The forward is considered an alternative after Ferran’s departure, and his situation will be explored.’
