FC Barcelona are edging closer to the signing of Brazilian winger Raphinha, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Romano reports that the Catalan giants are at an advanced stage in their negotiation of Raphinha’s personal terms. Reports suggest that the player’s agent, Portuguese legend Deco, himself a former Barça player, has been in progressive talks with the club since February.
However, Barcelona are yet to make an official first bid to Leeds United. Raphinha’s release clause is originally €75 million, but in the scenario that Leeds get relegated, that figure would drop to €25 million. Leeds currently sit 16th in the Premier League table, perilously close to the dropzone. As a result, Barça are monitoring their situation before making the first bid.
Raphinha has contributed nine goals and three assists this season. Xavi’s side, who have roared back to a comfortable top four position in LaLiga, have been in hot pursuit of the winger, in light of Ousmane Dembélé’s contract issues.
