The transfer team at La Liga giants Barcelona have earmarked a member of the attacking ranks at Chelsea as a potential summer signing.
This comes amid the understanding that the Blaugrana have set their sights on João Pedro.
Barcelona are of course widely expected to bring in reinforcements at centre-forward with a view to the 2026/27 campaign.
Amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding the futures of both Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres, the addition of a goalscorer has been identified as something of a priority by Deco and his team of directors.
The undisputed priority target at the Camp Nou is Atlético Madrid standout Julián Alvarez.
Amid the knowledge that a deal for the Argentine will not come easy, though, Barca have also drawn up a list of backup targets.
And as alluded to above, one such name circled in red comes in the form of João Pedro.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:
‘According to Cadena SER, Barcelona already have a strong alternative in case the deal for the Argentine striker falls through. This is João Pedro of Chelsea.’
Brazil international Pedro is in the midst of a fine individual campaign in west London, giving rise to 19 goals and nine assists.
