The brass at La Liga champions Barcelona this past weekend sat down for a round of talks with the entourage of Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon.
This comes amid the understanding that the Blaugrana have added the England international to their list of attacking transfer targets.
Deco and co. are widely expected to add to Hansi Flick’s options in the final third this summer, amid uncertainty surrounding the futures of all of Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres and Marcus Rashford.
A shortlist of targets has in turn been drawn up, featuring, most notably, the name of Julián Alvarez.
Alternative options are also being sought, though, with both wingers and strikers from across the continent and beyond on Barca’s radar.
And as alluded to above, over recent days, negotiations over a deal for one such player were kicked into gear.
As per a report from transfer specialist Carlos Monfort of Diario Sport:
‘Anthony Gordon’s agents hold a summit with Deco! The Blaugrana sporting director met last Saturday with the agents of the British left winger. Option, for now, very complicated, although the player is highly regarded.’
