The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona have made the call to definitively pull the plug on a summer move for Inter Milan star Alessandro Bastoni.
This comes owing to a number of significant factors.
The name of stopper Bastoni of course dominated the headlines in Catalunya’s capital for several recent months.
Amid an ongoing search for reinforcements at the heart of defence, the Italian, it is understood, was earmarked as the ideal profile on the part of the Camp Nou transfer team.
It was in turn viewed as something of a formality that a Barca offer for Bastoni would soon arrive at Inter Milan.
As alluded to above, however, this will in fact not prove to be the case.
As per a report from Diario Sport:
‘The Blaugrana club have already ruled out the signing of Bastoni.’
Why? Everything from Inter’s steep asking price, to doubts on the part of Hansi Flick, and a more pressing focus on securing a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
