Barcelona have made ‘a firm pitch’ to sign Man United wantaway

La Liga giants Barcelona are pushing to beat out the stiff competition for the signature of Manchester United teenage prodigy JJ Gabriel.

This comes after the 15-year-old dropped something of a bombshell on those behind the scenes at Old Trafford over recent days.

Gabriel, long considered the standout up-and-coming talent on the red half of Manchester, over the weekend stopped training with his Man United teammates at youth level.

According to widespread reports, as much comes with the England U17 international having made the definitive call to seek out a new club. Gabriel and his entourage are now working to find a contract termination with the Red Devils brass.

With the attacker held in high regard across the continent, a whole host of clubs, in turn, are already understood to have touched base with Gabriel’s representatives.

And one such suitor, as alluded to above, come in the form of Barcelona. As per a report from the Manchester Evening News:

‘The forward is on the radar of clubs across Europe, but Barcelona have made a particularly firm pitch to sign him, and it’s understood Gabriel could move abroad from the age of 16, as he has an Irish passport.’
