Barcelona have identified a new ‘priority’ for next summer’s transfer window

The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona have made the signing of a new goalkeeper something of a priority with a view to next season.

That’s according to Relevo, who have on Wednesday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

With no.1 Marc-André ter Stegen sidelined long-term, Wojciech Szczęsny only signed through the end of the season, and Iñaki Peña yet to convince the club’s coaching staff of his readiness to act as first-choice, Deco and co. have shifted attentions firmly towards securing reinforcements between the posts.

Deco, in fact, ‘has already been working on the objective for weeks.’ Not only that, but the Barcelona brass have identified their first-choice target, too.

As per Relevo, the shot-stopper in question comes in the form of Porto standout Diogo Costa.

Costa, also on the radar of Bayern Munich and Manchester City, has long been considered the standout goalkeeping talent in his home country of Portugal.

Capable with both his hands and feet, the 25-year-old, in turn, is considered the ideal profile for Hansi Flick’s squad.

Barca are expected to move forward with an assault for his services in the summer of 2025, albeit with it remaining to be seen whether or not the Blaugrana are willing to meet Porto’s predicted steep asking price.
