Barcelona handed timely injury boost before Valladolid clash

La Liga giants Barcelona were on Friday afforded some altogether timely news on the personnel front.

This came by of the return of a sidelined member of the club’s defensive ranks to first-team training.

The player in question? Eric García.

Defender Eric, for his part, this week became the latest member of Hansi Flick’s Barcelona squad condemned to a spell on the sidelines.

As much came after the Spanish international – fresh off sealing glory with La Roja at the Olympic Games – was confirmed to have picked up plantar fasciitis in his right foot.

Eric, as a result, was forced to sit out Barca’s La Liga downing of Rayo Vallecano in midweek.

With both Ronald Araújo and Andreas Christensen sidelined at present, too, it will therefore come as a major boost for all associated with the Blaugrana to hear that, on Friday, the former Manchester City man was back in the thick of things.

As showcased in the footage below, Eric took full part in group training alongside the rest of Hansi Flick’s squad on Friday.

He is therefore expected to be available for selection on Saturday evening, when Barcelona lock horns with Real Valladolid.
