Barcelona handed double fitness boost ahead of Granada

La Liga giants Barcelona have today been afforded a timely pair of boosts on the personnel front.

This comes in the form of confirmation that two key members of Xavi’s squad have moved ever closer to marking their respective returns to the pitch.

The players in question? Raphinha, and Marc-André ter Stegen.

Both wide-man Raphinha and shot-stopper Ter Stegen, of course, have been unavailable for selection for some time now, the former owing to a thigh problem, and the latter after being forced under the knife to solve a back issue.

Ter Stegen’s absence has been particularly hard felt, with backup Iñaki Peña, whilst a solid performer, simply not inspiring the same level of confidence as his German teammate.

All associated with Barcelona, as a result, will no doubt be overjoyed to hear that their no.1 is inching towards an imminent return to matchday duties.

As revealed by El Chiringuito TV on Sunday, both Ter Stegen and Raphinha were this afternoon spotted back in first-team training alongside the rest of Xavi’s squad.

Next weekend’s La Liga meeting with Granada seems likely to come too soon for either, but it is not out of the question that they could take to the pitch against Celta Vigo in two weeks’ time.
