Barcelona handed double boost in efforts to land Hansi Flick

A fresh update on the potential instillation of Hansi Flick on the bench at La Liga giants Barcelona has been forthcoming this afternoon.

The info comes courtesy of journalist Pol Ballús of The Athletic, who points towards the chances of Flick landing in Catalunya this summer as trending in the right direction.

The name of German tactician Flick has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Barcelona for several weeks now.

This comes amid the widespread understanding that the former Bayern Munich boss is viewed as a leading candidate to replace the outbound Xavi with a view to next season.

So, what is the latest on the situation?

The powers that be in Catalunya’s capital have indeed made first contacts with Flick, regarding a move to the club.

The 58-year-old has as of yet not been formally offered the job, but he is viewed as the ‘most obvious candidate’, owing largely to his favour in the eyes of Blaugrana president Joan Laporta, and unattached status.

Not only that, but, it is noted that Flick himself ‘would be very keen on taking the job’, already learning Spanish with a view to a potential move to Barcelona later this year.

Additionally, on Thursday, the German dropped perhaps his biggest hint yet when it comes to his plans for next season.

Flick has now officially penned terms with Gol International, an agency spearheaded by super agent Pini Zahavi, who is known to boast strong ties to Barcelona, and the aforementioned Laporta.

In fact, just two years ago, Zahavi proved the driving force in pushing Robert Lewandowski’s move to Barca from Bayern Munich over the line.

Could the Israeli now be in line to reunite Lewa with his former head coach?
