Barcelona handed boost in Joshua Kimmich pursuit

La Liga giants Barcelona have this week been afforded a boost in their hopes of luring Joshua Kimmich away from Bayern Munich.

That’s according to Diario Sport, citing BILD, who have on Tuesday provided the latest on the situation.

The name of German international Kimmich has of course long positioned itself front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital.

This comes amid the widespread understanding that the 29-year-old has been identified as Barcelona’s leading target to reinforce the base of the club’s midfield.

A deal, though, will prove a difficult one to come by owing largely to the difficult financial situation in play at the Camp Nou.

Those of a Blaugrana persuasion, in turn, will no doubt be happy to hear of a potential rift opening between Kimmich and his current employers.

As per the aforementioned Sport, the versatile midfielder has been informed that contract extensions talks with Bayern Munich have been pushed back until after the European Championships.

As much has left Kimmich less than happy, feeling as though he is not being made a priority.

The German nevertheless continues to give his priority to the Bavarian giants, but relations between the parties, it would appear, are not ideal at this moment in time.

Barcelona, in turn, will no doubt be eager to take advantage, with it also noted that, should a renewal agreement not be found with Kimmich later this summer, Bayern Munich will actively seek out a sale, ahead of the expiration of his current terms in 12 months’ time.
