Barcelona do not want to sell Memphis Depay to Atlético Madrid

Barcelona are not keen on the idea of selling Memphis Depay to Atlético Madrid, report Mundo Deportivo.

The 28-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Camp Nou for the last couple of months. Depay has been struggling for minutes under Xavi and he has only made four appearances in all competitions so far this season.

Yesterday it was communicated that Atlético Madrid are the latest team to show interest in signing the Dutchman as Los Colchoneros look to fill the vacancy left by the departing João Félix.

While Depay is open to the idea of moving to the Spanish capital, the Blaugrana are considering alternative avenues to offloading the Netherlands international.

In the last 10 years, David Villa and Luis Suárez made the switch from Barcelona to Atlético Madrid, with both players ending up winning La Liga with Los Colchoneros.

Barça want to prevent a similar situation from occurring again by not selling to a direct rival.
